Found ’round

Here are some cool things I’ve found ’round the ol’ internet.

This a great way to do a great thing without changing your life. (And a fascinating presentation, to bat.)

Who doesn’t love a good comedian? And who doesn’t love Jerry Seinfeld? Funny that I came across this just days after I was talking to my boys about his delivery. Two years seems like a long time to work on anything. But then again…he’s pretty successful. Maybe I should put a little more effort into these posts.

I have to admit that I think I’m pretty brave, especially when it comes to public speaking and just generally being in public. I’d love to try something like this but every time I think about it, my heart skips a beat. Does that mean I should do it?

What neat things have you seen out there in Internet Land?

I haven’t done one of these in a while. They’re accumulating in my bookmark manager so I thought I’d share them with you.

Are you a Moleskin lover? If so, this is for you:

Pencil sculptures – How in the world does this guy make these?

So this guy made a cloud. Inside!

The most amazing before and after photos of Superstorm Sandy.

Would you ever live in a town with no roads?

What’s your Home Style? Mine came in at “Urban Funk”.

I might have saved the best for last: Things we Say Wrong. I love this video. (In case you were wondering, “whole nother” is one of my pet peeves.)

A year in review

I’m filled with hope for the new year. I’m not sure why turning a page on a calendar signifies a new start in my life but it does. Every year. Sometimes I look back fondly on the year and other times, like this year, I can’t wait to flip over the page to January 1st. That got me thinking. How bad has this year really been? In looking through my blog posts, it hasn’t been bad at all. Yes, the last couple months could have been better but this year has held some amazing memories for me. If you haven’t been reading my blog all year, I encourage you to browse through these posts.

We went geocaching and got some interesting treasure.

Visited the Florida State Fair for the first time.

Took my favorite picture of the year.

I saw the Google maps car!

I conquered a fear of mine.

Went on many Sunday outings.

Went to the beach (several times) and started our jumping picture tradition.

Went on a road trip to see Mumford and Songs (warning, this post is long, with lots of photos). This is a tie for my favorite memory of the year.

Went to Georgia, collected some rocks & jumped for some more pictures.

Threw Ken a 40th birthday bash!

Celebrated my niece’s birthday in Crystal River.

Watched my friend’s movie screening.

Went to California to interview Roma Downey. My favorite posts about my trip can be seen herehere (my favorite day in California), here and this is my interview.

Recorded an acoustic music video. (Here is the link that includes the actual video.)

So, as I sit back an remember all that has happened this year, I’ve decided that it’s been a good year overall. Yes, the last two months can kiss my butt and I’m still looking forward to 2012 but 2011 & I have kissed and made up. I think I just needed some perspective.

Have a great New Year’s Eve and may you experience more blessings than you can imagine in 2012!

Here are a few more videos that I’ve found ’round the net.

It’s sweater weather now! Are you tired of wearing your scarves the same old way? Here are 25 different ways to wear them.

Last time, I told you that I had a bit of a dare devil streak in me. I’ve always thought it would be fun to be a storm chaser. (That is, if I’m guaranteed that I’d never get hurt.) This might be a good compromise.

This one isn’t a video but a really awesome web site. Check out back to the future photos.
I’d love to recreate one of these some day.

This video comes from my friends at Ocean Soul. I can’t wait to try this one:

And last but not least, my band Friends of Giants. This is the acoustic video we recorded on the beach a few weeks ago.

One of the things I’d like to start doing is sharing with you things that I’ve found ’round the internet. I still need a title for this series but until I figure one out, enjoy these videos…

I’ve always had this grand idea that I could be a great dancer. In the mid 90’s Ken & I even took our share of swing dancing lessons. It was a fantastic time and I’ll never forget getting dressed up to go swing dancing in Ybor. The Sugar Palm is now closed but I’ll always have those memories. Here’s a great dance video that celebrates all types of dance:

And how amazing would it be to sit in the middle of this show? This is the neatest video I’ve seen online in a really long time. {Note, it starts off as a slide show, so don’t close the video thinking it’s just jumpy}

I’m not sure about this last one. I always considered myself the soccer mom dare-devil. Meaning I’m the mom that will go on all the roller coasters with Ethan and his friends while their moms wait with the younger siblings. But doing this? I don’t this so. While I think it’d be a great documentary to watch, you won’t find me dangling by a tight rope, parachute or not!

What have you been finding around the ole internet these days?
